Networking for Nerds

By now there’s been some talk and a meet-up concerning our new nerds networking group. This is an idea that we definitely intend to move forward with, but not before giving our fans, followers and readers more information about what this group is all about and what our goals are.

To put it bluntly, my husband Tristan and I have gotten fed up with the networking groups in the area. Some are great ideas but happen too infrequently, others are made up of 80% baby-boomers; which isn’t a bad thing by any means, but we are both in our 20’s and lately we have felt like we just don’t fit. Also, most of the people in these groups don’t know what we’re talking about and we feel like the people that do are hidden; we want to bring them out.

Earlier in the week we did a small meet-up as a sort of “test run” of this group to see if we got a positive response. The turnout was small, but the response was in our favor.

What is it?

A to-be-named networking group started by Jacqueline and Tristan Rineer of Three TEN Seven Design for nerds only. By the term nerd we mean the dictionary definition which is: an intelligent but single-minded person obsessed with a nonsocial hobby or pursuit. If there is something you are obsessed with, or have a passion for that you either do to make a living or do as a hobby we want you!

That’s what this is, a place where nerds to get together, share ideas, share referrals and support each other’s nerdiness.

What are we trying to accomplish?

We’re getting nerds together to encourage connections between passionate people. Our goal is for these people that may not otherwise meet to get out and meet other people with similar likes and interests. In addition, we want to be a support group for nerds and their obsessions whether they are for business or pleasure; generating referrals for our fellow business nerds and sharing knowledge and resources for our fellow passionate hobbyists.

We’re giving back.

As the group grows, we want to do everything we can to give back to the community through group donations to local and national nerdy charities. We are currently looking for suggestions.

If you have any suggestions are would like be a part of our efforts to connect with our fellow nerds, please get in touch with us via the “contact” page on the main site.
